What Types of Items are needed?
In summary, we need warm, functional, and newly made items. We are calling them CREATION DONATIONS!
When you mail your creation donation, be sure to register and fill out the form we provide with size, material, and care info about your creation. Please consider using softer, stretchy yarn that is washable. Baby items should be made with extra soft yarns, preferably with no wool blends that can scratch little heads. Creative and fun, colorful items are encouraged, but they must be functional for the organizations they are going to.
Items needed include:
-Hats: (preemie, baby, toddler, child, adult women, adult man) Ear flaps on adult hats welcome for extra warmth. Fun themed child hats welcome as well, kids love animal hats! Pre-teens and teens love in style designs. NICU items should be basic though, and as soft and hypoallergenic as possible.
-Warm Scarves and Shawls: Not lacy or lightweight please for adults (include sizes in length and your intended recipient, such as child, adult male, adult female). Hooded scarves are great as well! It is dangerous as a potential choking hazard for babies and toddlers to have scarves, so children's and adult sizes only please.
-Blankets: Baby blankets and adult larger sizes needed. All colors, pattern, and designs welcome, just as long as they are WARM. Many hospitals are in need of lap afghans.
-Baby Clothing: If you are up for it - we would LOVE to donate baby items/sets to shelters, hospitals, and homes! Items include sweaters, cardigans, cocoons, booties, mittens, and hats (see above). Blankets and burp clothes made from cotton would be wonderful as well. Warm, easy to care for, and please consider gender neutral colors (yellows, green, etc...) and well as the traditional pink and blue.
-Other Child & Adult Accessories: Mittens, gloves, socks and slippers are in high demand.
-Pet Supplies: Many shelters need doggie sweaters for when they are walked in the winter, and warm doggy beds. Pet toys are welcome too
-Toys and Pillows: If you would like to create a pillow, or a baby doll or other toy for a child, they are most welcome! Please make sure there are no choking hazard parts and are big enough to not be dangerous.
ITEMS NOT NEEDED: Household decorative items, lacy and lightweight accessories and clothing, kitchen items such as dishrags, doilies and coasters, and other ornamental items. Our goal is to be as functional and warm as possible!
