Verifying Safe places to donate
We do the research, you do the creating! We speak directly with the organizations and locations listed on this site, and provide accurate and up to date mailing information, and their tax exempt status.
When you become a Yarnhead, we also provide you with a form to mail in with your donation with sizing, yarn care instructions, and any other notes about your creation the recipient may need to know. This information is important for avoiding issues with allergies (such as allergies to wool), washing instructions, and allows you to personalize your donation. |
What Items are needed for donation?
Find a complete list of items and details of what are most needed HERE. Most organizations need warm, functional items - bright, fashionable and fun stuff is welcome too! Especially for babies and kids! |
How Did The Yarnheads Project COme about?
"...We have a lot of homeless veterans here in Virginia Beach, some of which I am proud to say did odd jobs for me at my old flower shop. I have had it on my heart for some time to DO SOMETHING to help these folks. I also was in the maternity ward of our local high risk pregnancy hospital for 7+ months, and saw a NICU for the first time. I heard grieving mothers cry from my room, stampedes of feet down the hospital corridors at night, and stories from the nurses of death the next morning. So I want to DO SOMETHING. With all this talent in the yarn arts community, there so much potential to impact so many!
